— What I treat
Clinical specialties
Dr. Nguyen-Louie specializes in evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety, trauma, and OCD — with particular focus on Asian-Americans, immigrants, and adult children or grandchildren of immigrants, regardless of one’s race and ethnicity.
01.
Depression
Do you feel sad or down for most of the day, nearly every day for an extended period of time? Do you sleep more or less than usual, or find it hard to get out of bed in the morning? Is it affecting your hobbies, school, or work? Have you had an underlying feeling of sadness, malaise, or loss of interest, or you can't seem to experience joy to its fullest extent?
Depression therapy →02.
Anxiety
Would your friends or family describe you as a worrier? Do you have difficulty in specific situations, like public speaking or social events? Do you experience an inexplicable sense of anxiousness that doesn't seem to go away?
Anxiety therapy →03.
Trauma / PTSD
Are there certain specific memories (an image, a smell, a sound) of a previously terrifying or distressing experience that keeps popping up out of the blue in your mind? Maybe each time you're triggered, it takes you a while to feel yourself again. Do you hold strong negative beliefs about yourself, the world, or other people as a result of your experiences?
Trauma & PTSD therapy →04.
OCD
Do you experience certain thoughts or beliefs that are distressing and intrusive but you can't get rid of? Do you feel compelled to engage in certain behaviors or rituals over and over to calm those thoughts? Maybe you engage in skin picking, hair pulling, repeating things, or other compulsions to help keep those thoughts at bay?
OCD therapy →05.
Asian-American & immigrant mental health
Are you Asian American and want to speak with someone who has similar lived and personal experiences? Or maybe you're struggling to process past and/or present family dynamics or the culture in which you were raised, and have felt unheard or misunderstood.
